Formerly called “Information Cambridge”, this program began as a conjoined project with the Cambridge Volunteer Bureau in 1989. In 2007, the Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries began to manage and oversee the program. This transfer of services has provided Community Information Cambridge and North Dumfries with the opportunity to expand our information retrieval activities to include more records on services provided in the North Dumfries area. Community Information will continue to maintain a database of information on human services in Cambridge and North Dumfries, a printed directory, an information line for inquiries and a drop-in office.
Information Cambridge is one of over 70 information and referral providers whose main purpose is to provide a free, confidential information and referral service to the general public. Information and referral services provide an accessible and confidential link between people and questions or problems and the services designed to meet their needs. The staff are trained specialists who also provide needed research and follow-up to ensure clients are understood and helped.
