Word Processing Tutorial

This tutorial is for creating documents using Microsoft Word. Other word processing software include OpenOffice Writer, Wordpad, Textpad, and Notepad. Though this tutorial does deal with features that are specific to Microsoft Word most of these concepts do apply with other word processing software as well. Also depending on the version of Microsoft Word you have, some features may be different.

1. Opening Microsoft Word

To open Microsoft word:
  1. Click "Start" (located at the bottom left hand side of the screen)
  2. Move your mouse over "All Programs"
  3. Locate Microsoft Word from the list (it may also be under "Microsoft Office")
  4. Move your mouse cursor over "Microsoft Word" and click on it
When the program is open it should look similar to Figure 1.
