Core Work and Competencies
Core Work:
The SPC's commitment to the organization's sustainability allows us to pursue our core work. The SPC conducts social planning, research and policy analysis utilizing the strength of its relationships and partnerships in the community.
This includes:- Research reports (Trends Report, Best Practices documents, Blue Papers, etc.)
- Community Facilitation (planning groups, forums, etc.)
- Information Cambridge and North Dumfries
- Research and Data Consultation
- Mapping
The focus of our work is to improve the lives of those who are disadvantaged, though we believe this work helps to advance the quality of life for all in Cambridge and North Dumfries. Our work is grounded in the Healthy Communities Model which describes the interconnectedness and complexity of social, health, community, environmental and economic issues for a community. Other models that guide our work include participatory action research and the social determinants of health.
